Black Tank Tour 2.0

There is no established name for this Jeep trail.  It is simply a series of roads that will give you a tour through the wide open country close to the Sierra De Las Uvas Mountains.  There are a few black tanks along the route, hence the name.

Sierra De Las Uvas means mountain of the grapes in spanish. This range received its name because at the very north end of the mountains a single grape vine was discovered near a spring. This grape vine covered an area of about an acre. Originally just the spring was named after the grape vine but soon the name spread to the whole mountain range.

You will pass through Faulkner, Foster, Coyote, Broad and Choases Canyons.  Much of the run is on County roads, both graded and rough.  None of them are difficult.  The entire stretch from the mountains south to I-10 is paved.

We enjoyed this trip.  There are very few individual attractions of note, but it is an easy ride through vast country with certainly enough topography to keep things interesting.

There is a GPS - gpx track at the bottom of the page.

Faulkner Canyon has an old ranch that is private with no access allowed.  Cattle graze over most of the land in this part of the State.
