Box Canyon 2.5

Box Canyon is the quintessential 2.5 Jeep trail for people with something more than an SUV. The steep, narrow canyon is beautiful, and there is even a chance of seeing Desert Bighorn Sheep high on the canyon walls.

Be prepared to meet a lot of vehicles because this is a very popular trail.

Box Canyon is extra special when water is flowing.

Box Canyon is the center section of the Access Road "1A Price Rd Box Canyon Mineral Mt 2.5".  This entire access road is included in the track at the bottom of this page.  The northern part of the access road is Mineral Mountain and the southern part is Price Road.

There is a GPS - gpx track at the bottom of the page.

The "Playground" is on the road to the Coke Ovens and Walnut Canyon.
There is a deteriorated building purported to be a Stage Coach Stop.

There is an obstacle commonly called Box Canyon Ledge that pushes the 2.5 rating of this trail - maybe up to 3.0.  The good news is that there are usually enough rocks to pile up and make it to the top.  Stock vehicles struggle with this spot.
