Chinaman 2.5

​Tour a large group of mines on the west face of Caballo Mountains.
This run is named Chinaman because of the huge contribution Chinese made toward developing the area.  Many had been employed building the Transcontinental Railway, and when that was done some number of them came here to build roads and dig mines.  Their intricate stonework is visible throughout the area.

This photo shows a mule train road with easy grades so the animals could haul ore to market.  These were the skeleton of the transportation system of the time and are still obvious today.

Road of the time were built for wagons, not Jeeps.  Nice squeeze.

This impressive mine is located off to the side of this run.

This must have been the base of a building, but it seems an unlikely location.

The trail drops down toward the Rio Grande and ends at Palomas Gap 2.5.
