Glenn Spring Road 2.0

A little desert village in the Big Bend, born overnight, attacked by Mexican raiders, an abandoned when it was only 5 years old.
Glenn Springs was a community founded near the year-round water source of Glenn Spring.

By 1914 there were ranchers in the area as well as a factory that hired Mexican laborers to produce candelilla wax.  Mexican raiders ravaged the village and factory in 1916.  The village was rebuilt but only lasted until 1919.  Only a few traces remain today.

This trail is described beginning on River Road 2.0 but can be driven in either direction.

There is a GPS - gpx track file at the bottom of the page.

Tally Mountain
Begin on the south end with great views of Chisos Mountains, then travel around the east side of Tally Mountain.  The road is mostly good all the way to Glenn Springs, but a few areas require a bit of clearance.

Not much left of the village.

It is obvious what was once a corral, but not so obvious what the stairs were for.

Stairs to what?
Glenn Spring creates an oasis in the desert.

The north part of this road skirts the east side of Chisos Mountains and ends just east of Panther Junction.
