Hitchhiker 3.0

Hitchhiker is a fun, fairly mild, rock crawling trail in the bottom of a wash.

​This 3.0 rated run will be a challenge for beginners, and an enjoyment for those with more experience.

Most challenging obstacle
Much of the trail is either sandy or contains a few smaller rocks.  Not much for scenery as it is in the bottom of the wash.

The easy areas are interspersed with numerous obstacles of either large rocks or ledges.  Here are two of them.

The rock crawling wash is about 2 miles of the 5 mile trail.  There are a couple attractions on the road after the wash.

Best guess from local residents is that this a shrine from mining days.  It was custom for mines to have shrines containing religious figures to bless miners as they started and ended their days work.  Close examination shows evidence of adobe between the rocks.

​Miners called this formation "Heart of the Caballos".  They even had a song with that title.
