Maggie Slot Canyon 2.0

Beautiful trip!  WOW!  Drive a 3 mile slot canyon and hike 2 narrow slot canyons off to the sides of the driveable one.
This canyon is a long way from anywhere but do not let that scare you, as the canyon drive and two short hikes go quite quickly.

CAUTION:  This trail crosses a lot of private land so could be closed at any time.  Please tread lightly and correct any problems you find that were caused by someone else.   Pick up trash and stay on the existing trail.

Alamo Road is a wide graded road on which you can make good time if you are coming from Lake Havasu City.  You probably will come via McGuffie Cabin 2.5 if coming from Parker.

The canyon can be driven in either direction but we entered from the top (north end).

There is a gpx track at the bottom of the page.

The northern part of Alamo Road has lots of Joshua trees.  They were in full bloom when we visited in early March.

We were on this trip just after a heavy rain.  There was still foam in the wash and moss was bright green with moisture.  The Jeep quickly turned dark brown with mud.

We were the first to visit after the rain.  A little water was still flowing.

There are two slot canyons off to the sides.  The first one is an unnamed wash entering from the northeast.

The second canyon is Rawhide Wash and is larger, deeper and longer.  It starts out wide but do not let that fool you.

Continue in the wash until you get to the Alamo Road and return the way you came.
