Where Eagles Dare 4.0

Eagles Dare is a scenic slickrock roller coaster on extremely steep Navajo Sandstone.
This is a loop off Golden Spike 4.5.  Shortest access is to begin on Poison Spider 3.5 then leave Poison Spider and continue on Golden Spike.  Where Eagles Dare will only take 1-2 hours - much less time than it will take to get there and return.

Maps posted along Golden Spike 4.5 show Where Eagles Dare as a much longer run than the track we show here.  Study the maps and figure out how to do more if you want to.

The trail is described in a clockwise direction.

There is a GPS - gpx track file at the bottom of the page.

Just a short distance in is a "gatekeeper" of sorts.  The tippy, narrow spot appears a bit intimidating but is easy enough if you are careful.  OK for both 2-door and 4-door Jeeps.  The climb beyond it is the same - not a problem.

Take a short spur to an overlook of the train track and Corona Arch.

Drive a bunch more open slickrock then drop down to this intersection where the man is standing.  Hard left continues on a portion of Where Eagles Dare that we do not have on this website.  Slight left takes you past the red arrow to the top of the highest slickrock dome.  Slight right bypasses the dome and goes back to Golden Spike in a different location than where you started.

You might feel a bit of trepidation as you look up toward the dome, but both a 2-door and a 4-door got up without lockers.

Going down the far side to rejoin the trail is a different story.  Many people will be uncomfortable as they look down it from the top.  Very steep.  The red arrow shows the steep drop from below.

It is possible.  The next photo was taken several years ago when a group of us did the run.  The white Jeep is on the drop.

It is just a regular Jeep trail from here to Golden Spike.
